Introduction to Lighting

Where to begin…
If you are new to photography in studios this class will get you up to speed in no time.
Working with a model this class covers the camera basics, how the lighting equipment works, what modifiers do what – and then its straight into portrait photography to begin!
The one to one 6 hour session will cover lighting styles from high key/low key portraiture to fashion lighting explaining along the way tips and tricks to help you develop your own ideas.
We provide a simple no nonsense approach that allows beginners to cut through the technical jargon and get straight into creating superb images.
The workshop
We split the day into two halves. The morning session covers:
- Basic camera settings
- How lighting and modifiers work
- Composition and lighting a simple portrait
After some light refreshments the afternoon session covers:
- Working with light and shadow
- Balancing studio lighting with natural lighting
- Lighting for full length
- How to design your own lighting setup
